Resellers
A reseller is a customer of yours who sells machines to their own customers. You decide how much they may use and where. They see only their own business.
Add a reseller
- Open Resellers and press Add a reseller.
- Type a name. Their customers will see it.
- Type the owner's email address. An existing customer becomes the reseller. A new address gets a login, and the password is shown once.
The panel then asks what they may use.
Allowance
The allowance has two parts.
How much. Type a limit for machines, processors, memory, disk and IPv4 addresses. Leave a box empty for no limit.
Where. Choose Anywhere, or choose the locations and servers the reseller may build on.
For example, to sell 32 GiB of memory, 200 GiB of disk and 4 IPv4 addresses on one server in Israel:
| Box | Value |
|---|---|
| Memory, GiB | 32 |
| Disk, GiB | 200 |
| IPv4 addresses | 4 |
| Where | Only the places I choose, with that server ticked |
The sentence at the bottom of the form says what you are about to save.
What a limit does
| When | What happens |
|---|---|
| A new machine would pass the allowance | It is refused before anything is built, with the figures |
| A machine would grow past it | The resize, the new disk or the new address is refused |
| You lower a limit below what is in use | Nothing stops. Nothing new can be opened until they are back under |
| A machine is asked for in another place | It is refused, and the place is not offered when they create one |
A machine opened by a reseller's customer counts against the reseller's allowance. So does a machine the reseller opens for themselves.
An administrator who chooses the server by hand is not held to the reseller's places. The machine still counts against the allowance.
Activity
Press Activity beside a reseller to read what their business did.
Each line says what happened, to which machine, for which customer, how big the machine was and when. A line is kept after the machine is deleted.
A machine that belongs to the reseller's own login is marked For themselves. The top of the list adds these up, so you can see what a reseller uses and does not sell.
The number on the Activity button counts the lines you have not read yet.
Lines are written from the day you install this version. Machines that existed before count in the allowance and are not listed.
What the reseller sees
A reseller has a page called My business. It shows their allowance, how much is sold, where their machines are built, and their customers.
They add customers, create machines for them, and suspend a customer who has not paid. They set the name and support address their customers see.
A reseller never sees your other customers, another reseller, or your servers.
Suspend or remove
Suspend stops a reseller and their customers opening anything new. Every machine keeps running.
Remove ends the arrangement. The reseller and their customers become your own customers and keep every machine.
With the API
The same settings are in the API. Send node_ids as an empty list to allow anywhere.
